Episode 34: Turtle

What does a Turtle Have To Do With Weight Loss?

I  received this awesome email from Kara Latta The Playful Warrior and it has had me thinking ever since.  It relates to animals and we are going to talk about it and in turn we are going to be just a little more self-aware.  And I think self-awareness is one of the key elements to getting past hurdles in life’s adventures.

Self Awareness has helped me to greatly reduce my emotional eating, to lower my amount of self-sabotage, and to gain clarity on some of my habits.

Intro

When I was a kid my Saturday Morning Ritual was watching cartoons, now my Saturday Morning Ritual is to take time for me.  To reflect on the past week and set strategies for the week ahead.

  • “Two heads are better than one”  That is why we join together as a supportive community to support our intentional growth.

  • A special place where you can celebrate your success and grow from challenges.

  • Keep you accountable and committed to goals and feel supported along the way

  • Develop and hone your self-awareness and Adventure Mindset

  • Overcome obstacles and challenges that keep you from reaching your potential

First, we have a ritual - Brain Body Connection, Success and then more on TOPIC of THE WEEK

Brain Body Connection -

Movement is considered the human being’s first language. Movements strengthen the neural pathways between the brain and body. Learning, thought, creativity, and intelligence are not processes of the brain alone but the whole body.

Sharing is caring - Share your Victories this week

Journal Exercise -

  1. What was the most momentous thing that happened this week?  How did it make you feel and why? Did it impact your goals and if so how?  Any takeaways from this?

Turtle?

Imagine you're flying on an airplane right now to one of your favorite destinations.

Suddenly a magical being comes up to you on the plane. A glowing white light. They are kind and they let you know you're safe, but they tell you you'll no longer be returning to the Earth in your current human body.

But you're feeling calm and safe and you're being assured that everything is going to be okay. You feel surprisingly peaceful.

The magical being says that you can return to Earth as an animal.

They ask you: What animal do you want to return to Earth as?

Note the first one that comes up for you and write that down. [Don't overthink it - just go with whatever pops up first, no reason needed.]

Next, the being says to you, "I'm so sorry we can't turn you into that specific animal. Please pick another one."

Now see what second animal comes up. Go with whatever you see and write it down.

Next the being says, "I'm so sorry. We actually can't do that one either. But I promise you the next animal you say, we can absolutely do."

Write down the third animal you would be.

Alright now that you've done that, tell me the 3 animals that came up for you. You can write them down or respond with emojis :)

When I received the mail - this was my response.

First Cat, Second Dog

Third is entirely too hard because I am indecisive.  I Thought Lion but then thought Tiger was better - laying in the sun super fast and loyal.  But I love the water. What about dolphins?  But I love the sun ok a turtle they go in the water and sunbathe.  Also, they have their shell for protection.  They can be extra when they want  and if they don't want just hide out.

The Response -

They say what comes up subconsciously for your first animal is your perceived sense of self / the story you tell yourself.  (for me it was Dog) Your second animal is how people see you. (for me it was a cat.   And your third animal is who you actually are. (I still can't decide  Lion, Tiger, Dolphin,  Turtle. )

You can look up the meanings of animals and their qualities for fun.

For example, if you look up the spiritual meaning of dog it says loyal, affectionate, adaptable, patien,t and loving.

Lion

Powerful, fearless, and pride are the attributes that immediately come into thought whenever a picture of a lion comes to mind. The lion does not afraid of any other animals in the jungle.

Tiger

Tigers represent confidence, strength, independence, and protection.

Dolphin -

most likely playful, curious, intelligent, kind, cooperative, gentle, and communicative.

Turtle

This wise and patient animal have the following personality traits: Ancient Wisdom Perseverance and Steadfastness Protection Home and Retreat Healing Tranquility

Have you ever felt an inexplicable kinship with a creature in the wild? Does the grace of a deer, the curiosity of a cat, or the playfulness of a dolphin resonate with your spirit? Today, we’re going to dive deep into the wild world of animal symbolism and personal identity. Grab your favorite pen, a cozy spot, and let’s embark on this introspective safari.

Step 1: Reflect on Your Traits

Think about your personality traits. Are you more of a lone wolf or a social butterfly? Do you have the steadfast loyalty of a dog or the independent spirit of a cat? Take a moment to list your dominant characteristics.

Journal Exercise:

  • Are you introverted or extroverted?

  • Do you thrive in the day like an eagle or come alive at night like an owl?

  • Are you known for your strength, speed, wisdom, or something else?

Step 2: Draw Connections to Animals

Now, match your traits to animals that embody them. Don’t worry about picking just one; you might be a mix! Maybe you have the patience of a turtle and the creativity of a spider weaving its intricate web.

Ideas to explore:

  • If you’re tenacious and determined, perhaps you’re akin to a honey badger.

  • If you’re graceful and elegant, you might see yourself as a swan.

  • If you’re fiercely protective, a mama bear might be your spirit animal.

Step 3: Personal Stories and Experiences

Think about moments in your life when you felt a deep connection to an animal or acted in a way that reminded you of one. Maybe you felt a surge of bravery like a lion during a challenging time or navigated a tricky situation with the cleverness of a fox.

Journal Exercise

  • Have you ever felt the solitude of a snow leopard, content in your own company?

  • Was there a moment when you moved with the agility of a cheetah? Can you recall a time when you exhibited the bravery of a lion?

Step 4: Symbolism and Significance

Delve into the symbolism of your chosen animal(s). What do they represent in various cultures and mythologies? How do these meanings align with your own life experiences and aspirations?

Consider:

  • Researching your animal’s symbolism in different cultures.

  • Reflecting on how these symbols resonate with your personal journey.

  • Considering what lessons your animal could teach you.

Final Thoughts

As you wrap up your journaling session, reflect on how embracing your inner animal can inspire you in your daily life. Maybe it’s a reminder to be more patient, to embrace your wild side, or to nurture your creative instincts.

Remember, the animal kingdom is vast and diverse, just like our personalities. There’s no right or wrong answer—only the unique blend that makes you, well, you. So, what animal are you? Roar it out with pride, soar high, and let your wild spirit guide you!

Wrap Up

  • Stay curious, stay determined, and until next time, keep writing, keep exploring, and keep losing those pounds!
