Maybe it is a secret and maybe it's not. I share everything with you. It's about my steps. I had this big goal to hit 370,000 steps every month this year. I have made my goal 4 out of 6 months. I did not hit the Big Goal! So I guess the goal changed to how many months this year can I achieve my goal of 370,000 steps.
It's a little embarrassing, but as I write this I can't think of why I did not hit my goals those months. A little bit of procrastination, mixed with excuses, mixed with some valid reasons is all I can think of. I am only human. But I can't let a little setback stop me from at least trying. My motto is something is better than nothing. Trying is better than not trying. I will adjust and move on.
Changing your goal or modifying it is a great tool to keep in your toolbelt. After I set the goal of 370,000 steps I need to break that down into actionable steps. How I do that is pretty simple how many days are in the month 30 or 31. That breaks down to 12,333 or 11,935 steps a day. Then I like to break that down a little bit further Morning steps, lunch time steps, afternoon steps, and after work steps. I know that I always take Loki for a morning walk. That is 3 - 4 K steps so I have 8 or 9 K left to go. OK how am I going to get that done? if I take a 10 minute step break in the morning and in the afternoon while at work that leaves 6-7 K remaining. A 20 minutes walk at lunch? Now 4-5 K remaining after work. And that does not even include other steps just walking around the office, running to the bathroom etc....
But, oh man, there is always a but. sometimes it just does not pan out at all. So somedays I have to roll over the balance to the next day. So when that happens this is the big secret. I have a spreadsheet to help me stay current!. Here is a sneak Peek.
This is just the way that I like to stay on target. It reminds me a little of watching my bank account. What can I say I like to see the numbers!
How do you stay on track with your step goals?
